Although Alan ray bridal isn't the best atmosphere for choosing a wedding dress, no one can compete with Alan when it comes to custom veils and alterations!

Looked around for dresses for me and for BMs. Just make sure you make an appointment - especially for Saturdays!Staff will listen to you but still make suggestions.

I flew in for the weekend to come back to my hometown to go wedding dress shopping. Thankfully Alan Ray was our first and last stop as I struck gold in finding "The Dress". I feel terrible that I can't remember the name of the woman that helped me, but she was so fantastic! She helped me to pull dresses based off my pictures and "wish list" and also let my family walk around the dresses and pick a few for me to try on. The dress I ended up getting was one of the pictures I brought, but sadly out of my price range. Faced with the dilemma you always seem to see on "Say Yes to the Dress", my sales lady worked with Alan and came up with a solution. They would knock the price down to better meet my budget if I purchased the dress that I had on as a sample. Luckily the dress fit and I was game. I snatched that deal up and walked out that day with my dress.As wedding dresses always do, it required alterations and I wanted to make a few custom changes. Alan was hilarious to work with and had the right level of sassiness that kept our appointments fresh and entertaining. He did a phenomenal job executing the changes I wanted (adding a beaded sash, creating a sweetheart neckline) and the dress was very "me." Really enjoyed my experience here and would recommend for brides with all dress budgets.

I must first begin by talking about the awesome staff of Alan Ray Bridal. Everyone there is SO friendly, personable, efficient and helpful! My wedding dress shopping experience was a breeze. Alan Ray was the FIRST bridal store I visited and because of the wide selection and variety of dresses, I had plenty to choose from and ended up finding MY perfect gown there!! The whole bridal gown process was smooth and I am so thankful for that. I loved my dress (as most brides do), but not only did I love it, so many friends and family loved it too! I received compliment after compliment all night : )

Lots of things can be said about Alan Ray Bridal, but from my experience all I can say is wow! I purchased a dress from Alan Ray Bridal during its sidewalk sale and caught an amazing deal on a beautiful wedding gown. The only problem was it was a size 8 and I'm a size 0-2. Alan "wowed" me by whittling the dress down to fit my small frame to perfection! Through each fitting, he was also quick to respond to my requests for additional changes. I paid a VERY pretty penny for the alterations (as much as I paid for the $320 dress), BUT Alan did an AMAZING job and I still paid less than I would have had I purchased a more expensive dress and had it altered. The alterations seemed high-priced but I was still very happy with the results!

The bridesmaid dresses were lovely but the service was horrible. The dresses arrived over a month later than promised and Alan Ray would not call me, my mother, or my bridesmaids back. When they finally arrived, it was like they were right on time, no apologies. I wish I could take back the business I gave them.

My dress and veil were BEAUTIFUL and Amazing!!! Not only myself, but Everyone who has said anything to me during or after the wedding said I looked gorgeous and the dress and veil were awesome! Talk about nice compliments! :)I found exactly what I was looking for working with Alan Ray Bridal, and Alan Ray made my veil to match my dress and looked stunning when he was finished with it. The only negatives I would have are the time it takes for the dress to come in and the cost of alterations. When I would call sometimes, I would not ever get a response until I had to call back again. When the store is busy, you really need to make an appointment or you will not get the best quality of service.

The staff here was very friendly and I didn't feel like I had to hurry here. I could take my time and try on as many dresses as I wanted. I was able to purchase a sample at a discounted price! I needed alterations the week before, and Alan was able to pull it off with no complaints! The dress looked fabulous.

I had the pleasure of working with Alan Ray and his staff for our wedding on July 9th, 2011. He made me feel so special and comfortable and helped me find my perfect dress. I chose a Maggie Sottero dress (perfect for all shapes - they have the "perfect fit" design!). I knew it was the one as it was the first dress I tried on. It hugged my curves and fit me perfectly. Alan even suggested creating a "sweet-heart" neckline as it was straight when I bought it. Wow - that was a great suggestion and really made the dress "pop"!!! He's amazing at what he does, and I would highly recommend going there! Also, he's one of two places in Columbus that sell Maggie Sottero - and I would definitely not recommend the other place :) Hope to work with him again!

I loved working with Alan Ray Bridal! I went to several other bridal shops around Columbus and found that no other shop had the same level of experince as Pat @ Alan Ray had. I was even able to work with the owner who suggested that I go with a pink gown, based on my skin tone! I did buy my dress at another store (based on price), but I followed all of the advice that was given to me from Alan Ray. The color and style suggestions looked beautiful on me!Although I did not purchase my gown @ Alan Ray, we did use Alan Ray for our bridesmaids dresses and they were beautiful. All 4 girls had them ordered at Alan Ray.In contrast: Beware of Wendy's Bridal... the consultants did not make helpful suggestions for my body and for my dress. When I did try to shop for my bridesmaids dresses here, after purchasing my dress elsewhere, they were very rude and not interested in finding dresses for my girls! Save time and energy by going to Alan Ray before shopping elsewhere. You will have the best advice first.

My consultant was very friendly, and she seemed very capable however she apparently isn't capable of measuring/ ordering sizes well. When my dress finally arrived 6 months later I received a call that I could come in at anytime to pick up the dress. So I arrived later that day and the staff was annoyed I did not have an appointment despite the voicemail I was left that implied in did not need one. I was so excited to try on my dress but was nervous as it was Christmas time (ie cookies and eggnog) and was concerned the dress might be too tight. However, when I put the dress on, it was so large it wouldn't stay up on it's own. It ended up being 5 inches too large!!! Alan ray simply shrugged and quoted me prices for alterations, contracting himself multiple times about difficulty and prices of alteration options I asked him about. He was not at all apologetic that either my consultant had been measured incorrectly or ordered the wrong size. If they measure 5 inches off initially I was not about to let them touch my dress and took it to my family seamstress who does wedding dresses.

I've been in love with Maggie Sottero gowns ever since I laid eyes on the website several years ago. I knew going into shopping for my wedding gown that there were only two vendors in the Columbus area that carried Maggie Sottero. I found my dream dress and decided to order from Alan Ray. My maid of honor and I also found bridesmaid dresses at Alan Ray that we loved and had these ordered through Alan Ray as well. While the girls dresses all came in when the woman stated they would, mine came in a month later than I was originally told. When the girls dresses came in, 2 of the 3 were too big and needed alterations. The third dress would have been too big also (by about 5 sizes) if Alan Ray himself wouldn't have been there to stop the woman from ordering the incorrect size. My dress fit perfectly except for the length. When it came time for alterations I paid WAY more then I was expecting. If you choose to buy your dress from here, watch how they size you/your attendants, and take your dress elsewhere for alterations unless you want to pay an arm and a leg.

I really enjoyed the staff here. I had very VERY bad experiences with both Wendy's and David's in the same area. I bought my dress off the rack, and luckily they make everyone take shoes off before coming into the dress area, so it was very clean for being a try on dress! The women were very helpful and friendly, and I was able to bring all the family and friends I needed. They even had a place to sit! I think they only allow one bride at a time, we had the whole place and it was SO nice. Unlike some other places where you only get two chairs.... I would recommend this place to everyone!

I bought the dress off the rack at Alan Ray and they gave me free alterations. The problem with Alan Ray is that I ordered extra fabric for a shrug to be made and if we hadn't really been on top of things, it might never have arrived. Otherwise, they did a great job.

I purchased by reception dress from Alan Ray (got married in Maui but had reception in Columbus). I wanted something less formal, so I got a bridesmaid dress in ivory. The dress came in on time and was fantastic. I had my alterations done elsewhere.

Although I found the perfect dress through Alan Ray Bridal, I would not exactly recommend them. We also purchased the bridesmaids' dresses here & had several problems in ordering them. Each girl's dress was at least 2-3 sizes too big after receiving them & we had to spend extra to take them in so the dresses would fit. Thankfully we were able to find someone to alter them for a low rate. My dress also took 8 months to come in from being ordered...Just a few weeks before the wedding. I also feel the slight alterations that needed to be done to my dress (adding cups & the bustle) was completely overpriced.

I was not at all happy with Alan Ray Bridal. Initially I had been warned by some people about poor service, but I did not listen. I went in Oct. 2009 and tried on a lot of dresses I was ready to leave when Mary asked me to try on just one more, it was something they had just gotten in and wasn't anything like what I wanted, but I tried the dress on and fell in love. So I ordered my dress, later in January 2010. I was initially told my dress would be in by the end of April/ beginning of May. May 20th comes around and I have not heard from them, when I called to ask what was going on I had to leave multiple messages and received only a voice mail in response saying they had no idea why I was told May there was no way the dress would be in until July. On July 2nd I called again asking about my dress (as well as my brides maid dresses which had been ordered in March, I'll come back to them) I was told my dress would be in July 15th, the following day I received a voice mail from them saying they were still waiting to hear from the manufacturer, and the day after that I recieved a 3rd message saying that my dress would not be in until the MIDDLE OF AUGUST (my wedding was Sept 10th.) I called back fuming mad and was told the reason for the delay was the Volcano that had erupted in Poland back in April. My bridesmaid dresses would be in the 1st week of August and my dress would be in the 2nd. At this point there is absolutely nothing I can do aside from finding another dress so I waited. The first week of August comes and I call to ask about my bridesmaid dresses because no one has called me, and I am told that the dresses are in the US and they won't be ready to pick up till the following week. I probably wouldn't have though twice about their dresses but my MOH ordered hers from a store in Pittsburgh at the end of April and it was shipped by the end of June. All but one of the bridesmaid dresses showed up finally on August 12, my dress however was no where to be found, and Alan Ray Bridal didn't want to give me an apology. The problems were obviously everyone-else's fault. My dress finally showed up Aug. 18, 3 weeks before my wedding. I decided to call a number of other bridal shops that carry the same line as my dress to ask about the Volcano delay and 4 separate stores all in the Columbus vicinity told me that they had never heard of such a thing, and one actually laughed out loud when I asked if the Volcano had caused any delays. I've never been treated so badly. They were unresponsive to phone calls and treated me as if I was out right crazy for being so upset that my dress wasn't there. Also Alan Ray himself measured me for my dress when I purchased it, he made the call to go down a size in the dress because it would fit my chest and waist, my hip circumference at the time when I ordered the dress was 44in, fortunately I lost quite a bit of weight and 3 inches in my hips because when it did come time to alter my dress it was only able to be let out 1 INCH, if I hadn't lost any weight there is absolutely no way that the dress would fit. He also insisted that one of my bridesmaids had 5 inches of length added to her dress because she is 5'10" and the dress would be extremely short on her. She had to have 6 inches removed after the dress came in. It was nearly down to her ankles. And the final bridesmaid dress did not come in until the week before the wedding, fortunately it did not need altered much.

I was looking for a specific bridesmaid dress and it turned out Alan Ray was the only store in the area that had a sample so one of my bridesmaids and I went to the store try it on. We ended up loving it and asked the associate to order it. She began by taking all of my information, including the wedding date, and then measured my bridesmaid and processed her order. It wasn’t until after the associate swiped my bridesmaid’s credit card (keep in mind all sales are final) that the associate told us we would not have the dresses in time for my wedding and we would have to pay an extra $40 per dress to rush the order. When I told the associate she should have brought that to our attention before taking our money, she pointed to a sign above one of the racks. I’m sorry but a sign is no replacement for quality customer service. We ended up paying the rush fee and the dresses turned out beautiful (after tons of alterations because the associate ordered the dresses way too big). Overall, I don’t trust this store and I do not recommend it.

I had the worst experince at Alan Ray Bridal. I should have called the Better Business Bureau (they are graded F). However, it was the only dress shop in Ohio that carried the bridesmaid dress I found in a magazine and I had to have it=) The first visit to Alan Ray was good.. All I did was fill out the paperwork. When my girls started to come in and get fitted they had NO idea what they were doing.. they mis-sized everyone of my girls. The dress itself was 119$ some girls had to pay over 250$ in alteration charges. They were extremely rude to the girls and myself. My wedding was in July 2010.. we had all the dress orders placed by November 2009. They said they would all be in by April.. Well they did not come in until June! One dress came in damaged and was not in until the week of the wedding. Overall it was a bad experience and I would not recommend this store to anyone.
